Vintage late 1960s early 1970s lunaraine whiskey glow pastel brown mink coat fitted fit flare petite canpouchon pearl buttons flare cuffs

Gorgeous figure flattering whiskey brown mink coat in excellent supple condition, dating from the early 1970s or it could be late 1960s. It is a petite size that would suit a UK size 6 or a small 8. Little room for error as the mink belt fastens with double cabouchon button belt to exact waist, so you should be between a 24 and 27 inch waist. I'm a 28 inches waist, and it's wearable but a little tight.

In addition the sleeves are short for me, so all in all this is going to suit a petite person grrrr...as I really love the style! So this is that elusive flattering fitted fur coat if you are a petite person drowned by most you lucky girl!

The cuffs are just fabulous and also have that  beautiful button  as well as on the front fastenings of the coat which is double breasted arrangement. Buttons have a pearlized centre so may be mother of pearl rather than cabouchon not sure) But they are exquisite buttons whatever.

The fur was made by Blaiwais furs of Manchester and Southport, by Polish emigree master furrier Charles Blaiwais following in the footsteps of his father Simon.

This testimony entry in the National Archives from Charles written in the early 1980s:
"Simon Blaiwais, a furrier from Lublin, migrated to Manchester in 1905. He opened the 'Russian Fur Stores', a shop with its own workrooms at 81 Cheetham Hill Road. He bought furs at the Leipzig Fair and cured them in the basement of his Manchester shop. The workshops were upstairs. Simon Blaiwais later moved his shop to premises now occupied by Barclay's Bank at the corner of Park Place. Simon Blaiwais at first lived over his premises, later acquired an independent house in Bignor Street. He died at the age of 48 leaving the firm to his son Charles Blaiwais (then aged 16) who continues it at 44 King Street, still making his own fur garments"

So I assume it may have ceased trading soon after sadly.

They were clearly a quality furrier because this coat is just beautiful and in lovely condition, with no signs of wear or damage. If it was a larger size I'd have it priced MUCH higher for a piece of this quality so here's your chance at a special piece for a very reasonable price. Would have been much more expensive at the time!
